Ravens back in action at American
International on Sunday
MANCHESTER, N.H. (April 17, 2010) – The
Franklin Pierce University women's tennis team was defeated by
Southern New Hampshire, 9-0, in Northeast-10 Conference play at
Southern New Hampshire on Saturday. With the loss, Franklin Pierce
falls to 1-11 (1-11 Northeast-10), while Southern New Hampshire
improves to 5-9 (5-4 Northeast-10) with the victory.
Junior Lauren Smilovich
(Meriden, Conn.) was among the strongest contributors on
the day for Franklin Pierce, but she fell 6-2, 6-1 at third doubles
to Southern New Hampshire junior Catalina Echeverry. Also for
Franklin Pierce, senior Bianca LaPointe (Plainfield,
Conn.) put up a fight at fourth singles, but fell 8-3 in
the pro set format to SNHU senior Alison Waring.
All six Southern New Hampshire
players were victorious in both singles and doubles on the
afternoon. Junior Amber Chandronnait and freshman Alena
Mukdaprakorn led the way for the Penmen, as each lost only three
games all day. They teamed together to post an 8-1 victory and then
each posted a 6-1, 6-1 win in singles play.
The Ravens return to the court on
Sunday, April 18, when they travel to American International for a
Northeast-10 Conference match at 1:30 p.m. in Springfield, Mass.
