All six Ravens win at both singles and doubles

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (April 18, 2010) – The Franklin Pierce University women's tennis team was victorious over American International, 9-0, in Northeast-10 Conference play at AIC on Sunday. With the win, Franklin Pierce concludes its season at 2-11 (2-11 Northeast-10), while American International falls to 0-13 (0-13 Northeast-10) with the loss.

All six Franklin Pierce players won in both singles and doubles play in the match. At first doubles, sophomores Kaitlin Krolikowski (Massapequa, N.Y.) and Suzana Deronjic (Melrose, Mass.) picked up an 8-1 victory over AIC sophomore Amanda McLean and freshman Martine Turgeon. Meanwhile, at second doubles, junior Lauren Smilovich (Meriden, Conn.) and senior Bianca LaPointe (Plainfield, Conn.) posted an 8-3 win over sophomores Sabrina Cruz and Jamie Roy.

In singles play, LaPointe led the way with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep of Turgeon at fourth singles. Krolikowski and Deronjic were dominant in the top two flights as well, as each posted a 6-1, 6-1 victory, over McLean and Cruz, respectively. Smilovich wrapped up the Franklin Pierce sweep with a 6-2, 6-0 triumph over Roy at third singles. Franklin Pierce's Monica Lavertu (Berlin, N.H.) and Christina Bonelli (Medford, Ore.) were both victorious in both singles and doubles by default.
