Kraner victorious in both singles
and doubles
RINDGE, N.H. (April 13, 2010) – The
Franklin Pierce University men's tennis team was defeated, 6-3, at
home by Saint Michael's in Northeast-10 Conference play on Tuesday.
With the loss, Franklin Pierce falls to 1-8 (1-8 Northeast-10),
while Saint Michael's improves to 2-5 (2-5 Northeast-10) with the
win.
Freshman James Kraner
(Glastonbury, Conn.) picked up wins in both singles and
doubles on the afternoon for Franklin Pierce. In first doubles, he
teamed with sophomore Ben Brewer (Brattleboro,
Vt.) to post an 8-0 sweep of Saint Michael's freshman
Dennis Stanton and senior Craig Lindabery. Later, Kraner lost just
two games while picking up a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Stanton at first
singles. Sophomore Ryo Miyazaki (Tokyo, Japan)
picked up the third point of the day for Franklin Pierce with a
3-6, 6-3, 6-3 win over Saint Michael's sophomore Brian Healey at
fourth singles.
Two different Saint Michael's
players were victorious in both singles and doubles on Tuesday
afternoon. Senior Adam Brezinsky teamed with junior Ryan Magee to
tally an 8-3 win at second doubles before posting a 6-2, 6-1
triumph of his own at third singles. Senior Pat Larkin squeaked out
an 8-6 win at third doubles with freshman Chris Moskal and later
won a 6-2, 6-2 decision at fifth singles.
Tuesday was the final home match of
the season for Franklin Pierce. The Ravens return to the court on
Saturday, April 17, when they travel to Southern New Hampshire for
a Northeast-10 Conference match at noon in Manchester, N.H.
