Ravens back in action at Southern New Hampshire on Saturday

RINDGE, N.H. (April 11, 2010) – The Franklin Pierce University women's tennis team was defeated by Merrimack, 9-0, in Northeast-10 Conference play at Assumption on Sunday. With the loss, Franklin Pierce falls to 1-10 (1-10 Northeast-10), while Merrimack improves to 5-9 (5-4 Northeast-10) with the victory.

Senior Bianca LaPointe (Plainfield, Conn.) was among the strongest contributors on the day for Franklin Pierce. She held her own at fourth singles against Merrimack freshman Siobhan Licudine but fell, 6-3, 6-4. Earlier in the afternoon, LaPointe teamed with junior Lauren Smilovich (Meriden, Conn.), but the duo was defeated, 8-3, at second doubles by Merrimack freshman Mollie Fitzgerald and sophomore Kylie Waddington.

Four Merrimack players were victorious in both singles and doubles on the afternoon. Freshman Erin McMahon lost only one game on the day, as she posted an 8-0 sweep with sophomore Courtney Garvey in third doubles and later picked up an 8-1, pro-set victory in fifth singles.

The Ravens return to the court on Saturday, April 17, when they travel to Southern New Hampshire for a Northeast-10 Conference match at noon in Manchester, N.H.
