Ravens back in action on Tuesday
at home against Saint Michael's
RINDGE, N.H. (April 11, 2010) – The
Franklin Pierce University men's tennis team was defeated, 9-0, at
home by Merrimack in Northeast-10 Conference play on Sunday. With
the loss, Franklin Pierce falls to 1-7 (1-7 Northeast-10), while
Merrimack improves to 10-3 (9-0 Northeast-10) with the victory.
Freshman James Kraner
(Glastonbury, Conn.) had one of the strongest performances
of the day for Franklin Pierce. He teamed with sophomore
Ben Brewer (Brattleboro, Vt.) at first doubles and
the duo was narrowly beaten by Merrimack freshman Petar Golijanin
and sophomore Sean Pahler, 8-6. At first singles, Kraner was
defeated, 6-3, 6-3, by Merrimack sophomore Rishi Rajpal. Franklin
Pierce sophomore Ryo Miyazaki (Tokyo, Japan) held
his own in singles play as well, but he was clipped by Pahler in
fourth singles, 7-5, 6-3.
All six Merrimack players were
victorious in both singles and doubles on the afternoon. Junior
Liam Hoare did not even lose a game all afternoon. He teamed with
Rajpal to post an 8-0 sweep at second doubles, then swept through
his match at fifth singles as well, 6-0, 6-0.
The Ravens return to the court on
Tuesday, April 13, when they remain home to host Saint Michael's in
a Northeast-10 Conference match at 4:30 p.m. in Rindge.
