Jimmy McInnis throws in two goals for the second-straight
game

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. (March 31, 2010) – The Franklin
Pierce University men's lacrosse team dropped its
second-straight game Wednesday night with a 20-5 setback at
Merrimack. The Ravens fell to 4-2 overall and 1-2 in the
Northeast-10, while the Warriors improved to 5-1 and 3-0 in league
play.
Sophomore Jimmy McInnis
(Amherst, N.H.) and freshman Brendan Cahill
(Hollins, N.H.) each scored a pair of goals for the
Ravens, while junior D.A. Ivie (Alpharetta, Ga.)
added one as well. It marked the second-straight game McInnis
scored two goals.
Junior goalkeeper Shea
Campbell (Centerport, N.Y.) started in goal and took the
loss as he made just four saves. Freshman goalie Sergio
Diaz-Moresco (Annandale, N.J.) saw action during the
entire second half and made seven stops in relief.
Corey Lunney scored four times to
pace Merrimack's attack, while Bryan MacPhie and Greg Melaugh
each chipped in with three goals apiece. Cory Spinale started in
goal and got the win despite playing just the first half. He made
six saves in the opening 30 minutes and did not allow a goal.
Merrimack scored seven times in the
first period and five more times in the second to take a 12-0 lead
into the locker room at halftime.
McInnis came out firing for
Franklin Pierce in the beginning of the third period and scored
twice a little more than two minutes in to get the Ravens on the
scoreboard at 12-2.
Merrimack answered with
seven-consecutive goals, bridging the third and fourth periods, to
extend its advantage out to 19-2 with 10:25 remaining in the game.
Franklin Pierce battled tough in
the closing minutes as it scored three of the game's final
four goals. Cahill scored twice, 58 seconds apart, and Ivie capped
the game's scoring with a tally with just 25 seconds
remaining.
Franklin Pierce returns to action
next Wednesday when the Ravens travel to face Saint Michael's
at 4 p.m. in Colchester, Vt.
