(Northfield, Mass.) scored four goals and added an assist
to total five points on Wednesday afternoon to lead the Franklin
Pierce University men's lacrosse team to a 12-10 victory over
American International in Northeast-10 Conference play at Sodexo
Field. Junior attack Nate Wood (Binghamton, N.Y.)
also scored five points for the Ravens on three goals and two

International falls to 1-4 (0-1 Northeast-10).
American International came out
with the first two goals of the contest, by junior midfielder Dave
MacIssac and graduate student midfielder Rich Reichert, in a
low-scoring first quarter. Franklin Pierce would get the final goal
of the quarter, from Dintaman, and sophomore midfielder Pat
Doliber (Marblehead, Mass.) scored 4:29 into the second
quarter to draw the Ravens level at 2-2. Freshman attack
Brendan Cahill (Hollis, N.H.) assisted on each of
Franklin Pierce's first two goals of the day.
From there, Franklin Pierce gave up
the next goal as MacIssac struck again to give AIC a 3-2 lead.
However, the Ravens would score the last two goals of the half,
including Cahill's third point and first goal of the afternoon on a
feed from Wood and Dintaman's second goal of the afternoon, which
came with just three seconds remaining in the second quarter. The
Ravens took a 5-3 lead into halftime.
In the first half, Franklin Pierce
held a 27-15 advantage in shots and a 21-19 edge in ground balls.
Franklin Pierce netted the first
four goals after half time, over the opening 13:20 of the third
quarter to charge to a 9-5 lead. Dintaman scored twice in the
stretch, while Wood chipped in a goal and an assist.
From there, American International
would stage a furious comeback, as it scored seven of the game's
next nine goals, including a pair each from Szawlowski and freshman
attack Brett Serriello. Graduate student attack Alex Walter capped
the rally with a goal off a feed from junior attack Aaron McNab
that drew the Yellow Jackets into a 10-10 tie with 4:23 to play in
the contest.
Wood would finish the game in style
for the Ravens, as he took a pass from sophomore attack
Ryan Palmer (Hinesburg, Vt.) and found the net for
the game-winning goal, which gave Franklin Pierce an 11-10 lead
with 2:36 to play. Wood would strike once more, on a feed from
Doliber with 48 seconds to play which put the game away.
Franklin Pierce finished the game
with a 45-33 advantage in shots, while American International held
a 42-38 edge in ground balls. Franklin Pierce went 1-for-5 on
extra-man opportunities and American International finished
