MANCHESTER, N.H. (October
6, 2010) – Freshman outside hitter Lauren Miller
(Alexandria, Ind.) posted her fifth double-double of the
season and her third in four matches as she piled up 22 digs to go
with 13 kills, while freshman middle Katie Jackson
(Cherry Creek, Colo.) added 10 kills of her own and hit a
match-best .286 on Wednesday night to lead the Franklin Pierce
University volleyball team to a 3-1 road victory over Saint Anselm
in Northeast-10 Conference play at Stoutenburgh Gymnasium. Freshman
middle Kylie Kozlowski led the way for Saint Anselm with 10
kills.
With the win, Franklin Pierce
improves to 8-5 (2-4 Northeast-10), while Saint Anselm fell to 1-10
(0-6 Northeast-10). The Ravens dropped the first set, 25-18 before
rallying for the victory with wins of 25-22, 25-8 and 25-22.
Miller and Jackson were two of
three Ravens in double digits offensively, as senior outside hitter
Christina
Calderon (Tombstone, Ariz.) finished with 10 kills of
her own. The trio worked off the set of senior Pam Walker (Chino
Hills, Calif.), who dished out 40 assists and served up
two aces. Jackson picked up four of her 10 kills in the final set,
as she hit .571 in the fourth set to help put away the match.
The Franklin Pierce defense led the
way most of the evening. Senior libero Chelsie Kohout
(Harrison Township, Mich.) finished with 24 digs and is
now just 11 digs shy of tying Tara Vece for the program's all-time
record. She was joined in double digits by Miller, graduate student
outside hitter Kelsey Painter
(Glendale, Ariz.) and Walker, as the trio collected 22, 19
and 13 digs, respectively. For Walker, the 13 digs gave her the
seventh double-double of her career, and her first of the
season.
Lauren Miller tallied her third double-double in four matches with
22 digs and 13 kills in Wednesday night's win at Saint Anselm.
