Dolphins run unbeaten record to nine with NE-10 victory

SYRACUSE,
N.Y. (April 6, 2009) - Le Moyne College,
ranked No. 1 in this week's USILA Division II poll, cruised to its
ninth win of the season with a 21-1 victory over Franklin Pierce
University in Northeast-10 Conference men's lacrosse action at
Sunnycrest Field on the campus of Henninger High School this
afternoon.
Sophomore Tyler Sennett
(Syracuse, N.Y./Nottingham) led Le Moyne with four goals,
while freshman Mike Byrnes (Tully, N.Y./Tully)
also notched four points with two goals and two assists. Senior
Brooks Robinson (Preble, N.Y./Tully) added three
goals for the Dolphins as nine different players finished with
multiple point games. Sophomore Corey Bulken
(Baldwinsville, N.Y./Baldwinsville) and freshman
Taylor Brooks (Cypress, Texas/Cy-Fair) each
chipped in two assists.
Senior midfielder Jason
Flanigan (Shrewsbury, Mass./Shrewsbury) scored the lone
goal of the match for Franklin Pierce, an unassisted marker in the
second quarter. The goal was the 48th of Flanigan's
career, moving him into a tie for sixth in the Ravens all-time list
with Nick Cowden (2004-07).
Freshman Sebastian Baker
(Ithaca, N.Y./Ithaca) made three saves without conceding a
goal over the final 22:19 in net for Le Moyne. Senior Doug
McIver (Altamont, N.Y./Albany Academy) earned the win for
the Dolphins without facing a shot in the first quarter. Sophomore
Shea Campbell (Centerport, N.Y./Harborfields)
played the full 60 minutes in goal for Franklin Pierce and posted
seven saves, including four in the opening quarter.
Le Moyne finished with a 53-12
advantage in shots for the match, including 20-0 in opening an 8-0
lead after a quarter of play. The Dolphins were successful on
3-of-5 man-up situations, while Franklin Pierce converted on
1-of-3.
Eight different Le Moyne players
scored goals, with Bulken dishing two assists, as the Dolphins
opened a 10-0 lead 21 minutes into the contest. Robinson and
Sennett each scored twice during the opening run. Flanigan put
Franklin Pierce on the board with a man-up goal with 6:48 left in
the second quarter.
Franklin Pierce (1-7, 1-4 NE-10) is
off until next Tuesday, April 14, when it returns home to host
Saint Michael's College at 4 p.m. Le Moyne (9-0, 5-0 NE-10) visits
Merrimack College on Saturday for a key conference match up at 1
p.m.
