2009) - Adelphi University, ranked No. 1 in this week's
IWLCA Division II poll, raced to a 24-4 victory over Franklin
Pierce University in non-conference women's lacrosse action at
Sodexo Field this afternoon.
Senior Rachel Ray (Rocky
Point, N.Y./Rocky Point) and freshman Erica Devito
(Shoreham, N.Y./Shoreham Wading River) led Adelphi, who
will become a Northeast-10 Conference member next season, with
seven points each in the win. Devito netted a game-high five goals
to go with two assists, while Ray dished a game-best five assists
and added two goals. Sophomore Michelle Ceraso (Massapequa,
N.Y./Kellenberg) and freshman Alison Staudt (Rocky
Point, N.Y./Rocky Point) each netted four goals for the
Panthers. Sophomore Kaitlyn Carter (Mineola,
N.Y./Mineola) chipped in with three goals and an assist
for four points.
Freshman Brianna Nash
(Oceanside, N.Y./Oceanside) netted two goals to lead
Franklin Pierce. Sophomore Lauren Stille (North Quincy,
Mass./North Quincy) added a goal, marking the
100th of her career. Stille, who becomes just the third
player in program history to reach the milestone, did so in her
24th career game. Senior May Stoffer (New
Hartford, Conn./Watkinson) chipped in with an assist to
join Stille just one shy of matching the program's career record of
23 set by Celine Stamets from 2005-08.
Freshman Brianna Nash scored two of the Ravens four goals this
afternoon.

Junior Caitlin Fitzpatrick
(Port Washington, N.Y./Paul D. Schreiber) made two saves,
while conceding two goals, over the opening 34:30, before giving
way to senior Christina Kozakiewicz (Ridgewood,
N.J./Ridgewood) who made one save over the final 25:30.
Freshman Jillian Bolduc (Atkinson,
N.H./Timberlane) finished with 14 saves in goal for
Franklin Pierce. Adelphi posted a 45-12 advantage in shots for the
match, including 38-7 on target.
Adelphi had control of the match
from the outset, scoring the opening goal just 17-seconds into the
match from Staudt. The Panthers built a double-digit lead (10-0)
within the first 13 minutes, with Ray collecting two goals and two
assists in that stretch. The Panthers led 13-0 after a Ceraso goal
with 11:35 left in the first half, when Stille netted her
100th career goal with 10:40 left to put Franklin Pierce
on the board. Nash added her first goal of the match with six
minutes left in the frame, but the Ravens trailed 18-2 by the
break.
Franklin Pierce (3-5, 1-3 NE-10) is
back in action on Tuesday when it hosts Southern New Hampshire
University, among other teams receiving votes in this week's
national poll, at 6 p.m. Adelphi (10-0, 0-0 ECC) hosts Stonehill
College next Saturday at 2 p.m.
