Rotolo's winning goal came after
Franklin Pierce had won the opening draw to start overtime, but
turned the ball over. After the SNHU senior's 13th goal
of the season, the Penmen won the ensuing draw and maintained
possession for the rest of the first half of the extra session.
Kraus controlled the draw to start the second half of overtime and
SNHU milked all three minutes off the clock to take home the
victory.
Franklin Pierce erased a four-goal
(14-10) deficit in the final 16 minutes of regulation to force
overtime. The rally was capped by a second-straight goal from
Moirano, assisted by freshman Brianna Nash (Oceanside,
N.Y./Oceanside), with just 34-seconds on the clock. After
Kraus controlled the ensuing draw for SNHU, Franklin Pierce senior
Kayleigh Jaksina (Townsend, Mass./North Middlesex)
forced a turnover with ten seconds to play, but the Ravens couldn't
get the ball to the other end before time expired.
Sophomore Alyssa Johnson's
(Nashua, N.H./Nashua South) goal with 16-minutes to play
was SNHU's second goal in a 20-second span that gave the Penmen
their second four-goal lead (14-10) of the half. Freshman
Mary Kate Stille (North Quincy, Mass./North
Quincy) and older sister, Lauren, each scored to pull
Franklin Pierce back within two (14-12) with 12:43 to play.
