- Franklin Pierce University scored ten second half goals
in posting its first victory of the season, a 16-7 decision over
Saint Michael's College, in non-conference women's lacrosse action
this afternoon.
Sophomore Lauren Stille
(North Quincy, Mass./North Quincy) led Franklin Pierce
with six goals and an assist for seven points. Freshman
Brianna Nash (Oceanside, N.Y./Oceanside) added
three goals and an assist for four points, while sophomore
Jordan Baillargeon (Westfield, Mass./Westfield)
posted two goals and an assist for three points. Sophomore
Ashley Moirano (South Burlington, Vt./South
Burlington) chipped in with two goals.
Senior Lauren Rizzotti
(Rockland, Mass./Cohasset) led Saint Michael's with three
goals. Classmate Kim Berlo (Scituate,
Mass./Scituate) chipped in a goal and assist.
Freshman Jillian Bolduc
(Atkinson, N.H./Timberlane) earned her first collegiate
win in goal for Franklin Pierce with 12 saves. Sophomore
Meghan McLaughlin (Cape Elizabeth, Maine/Cape
Elizabeth) finished with 14 saves for Saint Michael's.
After trading goals over the opening
eight minutes, Franklin Pierce staked out a 5-2 lead with 14:50
left in the first half with four-straight goals from Nash, Moirano,
Stille and Baillargeon.
Franklin Pierce took a 6-3 lead into
halftime, but Saint Michael's closed within a goal (6-5) after
scores from senior Sara Biondello (Glastonbury,
Conn./Glastonbury) and Berlo just 1:08 into the second
half. However, Franklin Pierce regained control with five goals in
the span of nine minutes to open an 11-5 lead with 16:22 left.
Stille had three of the Ravens goals during that span. The Ravens
sealed the win with four goals, including one each from Moirano and
Stille, in a two minutes span in the final five minutes.
Franklin Pierce (1-1, 0-1 NE-10) is
back in action on Friday when it concludes its spring break trip at
Rollins College at 7 p.m. The Ravens open their home schedule next
Tuesday, March 24, when it hosts Bentley University at 7 p.m. Saint
Michael's (0-3, 0-0 NE-10) is back in action next Thursday, March
26, at Bentley at 7 p.m.
