Tyszko collects nine points and lead three Tars with four
goals

PARK, Fla. (March 20, 2009) - Rollins
College, ranked 10th nationally, opened an eight goal
lead by halftime and never looked back in posting a 19-8 victory
over Franklin Pierce University in non-conference women's lacrosse
action tonight.
Sophomore Katy Tyszko (Clermont,
Fla./Bishop Moore) led three Rollins players with four goals as she
added a team-best five assists for nine points on the night.
Sophomore Liz Connelly (Longwood, Fla./Lake
Brantley) dished three assists to go with her four goals
for seven points, while junior Marissa Giannerini
(Baltimore, Md./Notre Dame Prep) rounded out the Tars
four-goal scorers. Freshman Mallory Surpless (Chicago,
Ill./New Trier) chipped in three goals.
Sophomore Ashley Moirano
(South Burlington, Vt./South Burlington) led Franklin
Pierce with a season-high three goals. Freshman Brianna
Nash (Oceanside, N.Y./Oceanside) added two goals, while
sophomore Lauren Stille (North Quincy, Mass./North
Quincy) chipped in with a goal and assist.
Senior Lisa Weber (Winter
Springs, Fla./Winter Springs) made 12 saves to preserve
the victory in goal for Rollins. Freshman Jillian Bolduc
(Atkinson, N.H./Timberlane) finished with 15 stops for
Franklin Pierce, which was out-shot 38-12 for the contest.
Rollins scored the first six goals,
two each from Giannerini and Surpless, just seven minutes into the
contest. Franklin Pierce got two back on goals from Moirano and
Nash, but the Tars scored the next four to open a 10-2 lead with
under five minutes left in the half. Tyszko and Giannerini each
netted a pair during that stretch.
Connelly scored two goals in the
final 37-seconds of the half, including a goal just two-seconds
before the break, and Rollins scored the first three goals of the
second half, two from Tyszko, to open a 15-4 advantage and the Tars
never looked back.
Franklin Pierce (1-2, 0-1 NE-10) is
back in action on Tuesday when it opens its home schedule against
Bentley University at 7 p.m. Rollins (5-2) hosts Southern
Connecticut State University on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
