Anderson collects seven points, Dargon six to pace Lions to
victory

SAINT LEO, Fla. (March 15,
2009) - Saint Leo University raced out to a 10-0 lead
after a quarter of play and never looked back in posting a 26-2
victory over Franklin Pierce University in non-conference men's
lacrosse action at University Field this afternoon.
Freshman Joseph Anderson
(Bellmore, N.Y./WC Mepham) led Saint Leo with four goals
and three assists for seven points, while senior Matt
Dargon (Newton, Mass./Newton North) added three goals and
three assists for six points. Juniors Luke Baruch (Golden,
Colo./Essex CC), Kyle Marceau (Concord,
N.H./Concord) and Joe Guerin (Palm Beach Gardens,
Fla./William T. Dwyer) each registered three goals and an
assist for four points, while sophomore Alex Morrison
(Coral Springs, Fla./Douglas) dished three assists and
added a goal for four points.
Freshmen Jacob Ferreira
(Kennebunk, Maine/Kennebunk) and Jon Autorino
(North Caldwell, N.J./West Essex Regional) scored goals
for Franklin Pierce. Sophomore D.A. Ivie (Alpharetta,
Ga./Blessed Trinity) and freshman Matt Forzaglia
(Croton-on-Hudson, N.Y./Croton-Harmon) each collected
assists.
Sophomore Blake Barnett
(Florissant, Mo./Christian Brothers) went the distance in
goal for Saint Leo and stopped 11 of the 13 shots on goal he faced.
Sophomore Shea Campbell (Centerport,
N.Y./Harborfields) made 14 saves in 58:31 for Franklin
Pierce.
Saint Leo raced out to a 10-0 lead
after the first quarter and led 15-0 at halftime in building a 20-0
lead before Franklin Pierce got on the board with Autorino's first
collegiate goal, assisted by Forzaglia, with 6:34 remaining in the
third quarter. Baruch scored three times in the opening quarter for
Saint Leo, while Marceau collected a goal and assist.
Five difference Lions scored in the
second quarter, while Dargon dished two assists in the frame.
Ferreira also netted his first collegiate goal for Franklin Pierce
with 8:24 left in the match, assisted by Ivie.
Saint Leo scored on four of the six
man-up opportunities it had in the match while holding Franklin
Pierce scoreless on its three man-up chances.
Franklin Pierce (0-2, 0-0 NE-10) is
back in action on Tuesday for a matchup at Rollins College at 5
p.m. The Ravens return home on Wednesday, March 25, to host Bentley
University at 4 p.m. Saint Leo (6-1, 2-0 DSC) hosts Saint Michael's
College on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
