Buchholz leads way with 11 kills

Nicole Buchholz posted a team-high 11 kills against Bridgeport on
Friday evening.

RINDGE, N.H. (September 26, 2008)
– Senior Nicole Buchholz
(Broadlands, Va./Stone Bridge) posted a team-high 11 kills
and three other Ravens notched nine kills on Friday evening to lead
the Franklin Pierce University volleyball team to a 3-1 victory
over Bridgeport in non-conference action at Franklin Pierce's
Fieldhouse. Junior Juliana Moraes (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) led the
way for Bridgeport with a match-best 13 kills. The match was part
of the ECC/Northeast-10 Conference Challenge.
Bridgeport won the first set, 25-20, however Franklin Pierce would
run off victories in the next three sets, 25-15, 25-23 and 25-23 to
win the match.
Buchholz led the Ravens with 11 kills on the evening, while senior
Emily Schultz (Salem,
Wis./Westosha Central) and juniors Megan Feldmeth (South Pasadena, Calif./South
Pasadena) and Caitlynn
Parnell (Medina, Texas/Medina) each notched nine kills for
Franklin Pierce. Senior Karissa
Hookstadt (Camarillo, Calif./Camarillo) put together a
double-double effort with 35 assists and 10 digs. Sophomore Chelsie Kohout (Harrison Township,
Mich./L'Anse Creuse) led four Ravens in double figures
with 23 digs to key the defensive effort.
For Bridgeport, Moraes led the way with 13 kills while sophomore
Ivana Kovacevic-Jurasin (Belgrade, Serbia) reached double digits as
well with 12 kills. Junior JJ Edwards (Georgetown, Ontario) led all
players with 24 digs and senior Emma Ariyo (Kampala, Uganda)
recorded a match-high seven blocks to lead the defense. Junior
Milica Micovic (Belgrade, Serbia) keyed the offense for the Purple
Knights with a match-best 44 assists.
The Ravens (8-8, 1-1 NE-10) return to the court on Saturday,
September 27, when they travel to Dana Center in Waltham, Mass. for
the second day of the ECC/Northeast-10 Conference Challenge.
Franklin Pierce will take on Queens at 10 a.m. before squaring off
with Dowling at 1 p.m. The Ravens are next home on Oct. 4 when they
host Southern Connecticut State (12 p.m.) and Concordia (4 p.m.) in
a tri-match. Bridgeport (9-7, 3-2 ECC) also travels to Waltham
tomorrow, where they will face host Bentley at 10 a.m. and
Merrimack at 3:30 p.m.
