WEST HAVEN, Conn.
(September 1, 2007) – The Franklin Pierce University
women's volleyball team dropped two matches on the second day
of the Baden Invitational, falling to host New Haven by a score of
3-1 (30-15, 30-32, 30-25, 30-25) and to the University of

the host Chargers before falling in four games. In the second game
of the match, which the Ravens won by a score of 32-30, the
visitors faced two game-points at 29-28 and 30-29, but Franklin
Pierce fended them off thanks to a kill by redshirt freshman
Michelle Koike (San Francisco, Calif./Gonzaga
University) and a New Haven attack error. The Ravens won
four of the last six points to take the game, but lost in four
games.
Sophomore Katie Ristow (Miami, Fla./Miami Killian Senior
HS) led the Ravens with 11 kills and 11 digs in the first
match, recording her second consecutive double-double. Junior

Bridge) reached double-figures in kills for the Ravens
with 10 and also produced five blocks, three digs and a service
ace. Three Warriors reached double-digits in kills, led by the 16
of Hannah Meier (Lodi, Calif./Tokay).
The Ravens dropped the second half of its doubleheader to
Bridgeport, 3-0. Koike led the Raven attack, as she was the only
Franklin Pierce player to reach double-figures in kills with 13 and
added five digs, two blocks and two assists. Junior co-captain
Karissa Hookstadt (Camarillo, Calif./Camarillo)
recorded her first double-double of the season for the Ravens with
26 assists and 11 digs, while adding two kills and a service ace.
For Bridgeport, Ivana Kovacevic-Jurasin (Belgrade, Serbia/Faculty
of Economic) led the way with 16 kills and 16 digs.
