Boulis leads Sky Hawks with a pair of goals

EASTON, Mass. (September 27, 2006)
– The Franklin Pierce field hockey team suffered a tough 3-0
setback to No. 6 ranked Stonehill College in Northeast-10
Conference action this evening at W. B. Mason Stadium. The Sky
Hawks posted two first half goals and added one second half score
to cruise to their sixth victory of the season.
Juniors Aly Boulis (Lincoln, R.I./Lincoln) and Caitlin Gleason
(New Boston, N.H./Goffstown) led the Stonehill offensive attack as
the two combined for all three Sky Hawk scores. Boulis netted a
pair of goals in the victory, while Gleason added a single
score.
Gleason opened the scoring with just 4:52 remaining in the first
half as she connected for her team-leading, fifth goal of the
season off Sky Hawk penalty corner. Boulis followed just 0:23
later, posting her first goal of the game to give the Sky Hawks a
2-0 advantage.
In the second half, Stonehill added a quick insurance goal as
Boulis deposited her fourth goal of the season, second of the game,
off assists from senior Kelly Latendresse (Sidney,
Maine/Messalonskee) and junior Ashley Freeman (White River Jct.,
Vt./Hartford).
Franklin Pierce goalkeeper, senior Amanda Pietraszuk (Clinton, Conn./The Morgan
School) made five saves for the Ravens, while Stonehill
goalkeeper Dani Ryder (Gloucester, Mass./Tantasqua) stopped two
shots to preserve the win.
Franklin Pierce (3-5, 3-4 NE-10) will be in action again next
Wednesday as it hosts No. 5 ranked UMass Lowell at 6 p.m. Stonehill
College (6-2, 4-1 NE-10) will travel to American International
College on Saturday at 12 p.m.
