#6 Franklin Pierce Blanks Bentley, 2-0

Hislop, Hughes lead Ravens to seventh-straight win

RINDGE, N.H. (October 11, 2005) - Franklin Pierce, ranked No. 6 in this week's National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/adidas Division II poll, scored a goal midway through each half in posting a 2-0 victory over Bentley College in Northeast-10 Conference women's soccer action at Sodexho Field tonight.

Senior All-American Laura Hislop (Belfast, Northern Ireland) played a role in both Franklin Pierce markers with a goal and assist. She has now figured in each of the Ravens last nine goals, scoring five goals and assisting on four others, and 11 of their last 12. Hislop has played a role in 28 of Franklin Pierce's 36 goals scored for the season.

Bentley sophomore goalkeeper Jackie Bourque (Lynnfield, Mass./Lynnfield) kept the Falcons in the match with 11 saves. She was also helped out by freshman Emma Kelly (Bonita Springs, Fla./Estero), who cleared a header by Franklin Pierce junior back Alex Scavo (Toronto, Ontario/Brother Andre) off the line at the near post off a corner kick to keep the match scoreless just 4:01 into the match.

Franklin Pierce junior Linnea Authier (East Longmeadow, Mass./East Longmeadow) made one stop to preserve her third shutout of the season (eighth career) as the Ravens enjoyed a 22-2 advantage in shots for the match. The shutout was the fourth-straight for the Ravens, who have not yielded a goal in their last 446:40.

Bourque had four of her 11 stops in the first 23 minutes of the match, which was scoreless until Franklin Pierce was awarded an indirect free kick from just outside the penalty area moments later. Hislop touched the ball to senior All-American Sonya Hughes (Balbriggan, Ireland), who fired the ball into the lower right corner of the net from the left channel at 23:39.

Hislop gave the Ravens some insurance with her Conference-leading 20th goal of the season midway through the second half when she took a pass from the left side by junior Leanne Bowler (Clonalvy, Ireland) and scored on a low shot from the top of the 18 to the lower left corner at 65:22.

Franklin Pierce (11-1-1, 9-1-1 NE-10) returns to the pitch on Thursday when it hosts Pace University at 4 p.m. Bentley (0-9-3, 0-9-2 NE-10) hosts Holy Family University in a non-conference match on Friday at 3:30 p.m.
