Ravens end first day of Purple Knight Invitational with a
split
RINDGE, N.H. (Sept. 3, 2004) –
Franklin Pierce fell to the host University of Bridgeport
volleyball team in the nightcap of the first day of the Bridgeport
Purple Knight Invitational. The Ravens came up just short, dropping
the match 3-2 (30-27, 25-30, 14-30, 30-16, 15-6) to the Purple
Knights.
Sophomore outside hitter Christina
Collett (Tombstone, Ariz./Tombstone) was solid for Franklin
Pierce, as she totaled a team-best 16 kills to go along with three
digs. The Ravens also got solid contributions from freshman setter
Bria Williams (Chino Valley,
Ariz./Chino Valley), who posted 33 assists and five kills,
and sophomore outside hitter Michelle McConnell (Elora, Ontario/Centre
Wellington) who had eleven digs to go along with five
kills.
Franklin Pierce (1-2, 1-1 NE-10) returns to action tomorrow at noon
as they take on Teikyo Post in day two of the Bridgeport Purple
Knight Invitational. The Ravens will also play a yet to be
determined opponent in their final match of the weekend tomorrow.
Bridgeport (2-0, 0-0 NYCAC) will also participate in two matches
tomorrow, as the tournament comes to a close.
