Jones, Blanchard produce goals for Ravens
RINDGE, N.H. (September 30, 2003)
– The Franklin Pierce University field hockey team edged
Stonehill College 2-1 in Northeast-10 Conference field hockey
action this afternoon.
The Ravens opened up the scoring with 9:35 left in the first half
as senior captain Debbie Jones
(Escondido, Calif./Bishops) notched her sixth goal of the
season off a feed from freshman Collette Brady (Bellingham,
Mass./Bellingham).
The Chieftains tied the score at one 2:15 into the second when
senior captain Libby Hanna (Augusta, Maine/Cony) converted on a
penalty stroke.
Just over a minute later, Franklin Pierce regained its one goal
lead as Laura Blanchard (Rockport,
Mass./Rockport) sent home a pass from Amanda McIntosh (Madison,
N.J./Madison).
Ravens' netminder Brandi
Guertin (Bellingham, Mass./Bellingham) made seven saves to
earn the win while Megan Kendall (Norwich, Conn./Norwich Free) made
one save for Stonehill.
Franklin Pierce (6-5, 5-5 NE-10) returns to action on Thursday when
it hosts Merrimack College in a Northeast-10 Conference matchup at
4 p.m. Stonehill College (5-5, 4-4 NE-10) next hosts Bentley on
Thursday at 4 p.m.
