Guertin ties record for shutouts in a season as Brady's
goal lifts Ravens
SMITHFIELD, R.I. (September 27, 2003)
– The No. 10 nationally ranked Franklin Pierce University
field hockey team shut out No. 6 Bryant College, 1-0, in
Northeast-10 Conference field hockey action today.
Freshman Collette Brady
(Bellingham, Mass./Bellingham) broke the scoreless tie with
5:47 remaining in regulation as she connected on a pass from senior
Katie Raposa (Tiverton,
R.I./Tiverton) to notch the only goal of the game.
Sophomore goalkeeper Brandi
Guertin (Bellingham, Mass./Bellingham) totaled 12 saves in
net for the Ravens and recorded her third shutout of the season,
tying a school season record set by Kasey McClements in 2002.
Kirsten Patat (Portsmouth, N.H./Portsmouth) made two saves in net
for the Bulldogs.
Franklin Pierce (5-5, 3-2 NE-10) returns to action on Tuesday when
it hosts Stonehill in a Conference matchup at 4 p.m. Bryant (8-3,
6-2 NE-10) next travels to Assumption for a game at 4 p.m. on
Thursday.
