Jones, Langevin net goals in Ravens third straight victory
RINDGE, N.H. (September 15, 2003)
– The Franklin Pierce University field hockey team fought
through pouring rain to earn its third straight win, defeating
Plymouth State University 2-1 in non-conference field hockey action
this afternoon.
Sophomore Trisha Langevin
(Bellingham, Mass./Bellingham) opened up the scoring with
7:39 left in the first half as she knocked in her first goal of the
season off a pass from freshman Nicole McKinnon (Northfield,
N.H./Winnisquam) to give Franklin Pierce a 1-0
advantage.
Senior captain Debbie Jones
(Escondido, Calif./Bishops) notched the Ravens' second
goal of the game 1:08 in to the second half off a feed from
freshman Angela Barone (Norwood,
Pa./Interboro).
With 13:54 left in regulation Lily Silva (Lowell, Mass./Lowell)
scored to bring the Panthers within one, but sophomore goalkeeper
Brandi Guertin (Bellingham,
Mass./Bellingham) held off Plymouth State as she made nine
saves for the Ravens and recorded her third straight win.
Plymouth State goalkeeper, Kerry Brady (Jefferson, N.H./White
Mountain Regional) made eight seven saves and took the loss.
Franklin Pierce (3-3, 2-3 NE-10) returns to action on Wednesday
when they host Southern Connecticut State University in a
Northeast-10 Conference matchup at 4 p.m. Plymouth State (0-3) next
faces Saint Anselm College on Wednesday for a home match at 4 p.m.
