Guertin records second shutout of the season as Ravens defeat
first place Owls
RINDGE, N.H. (September 17, 2003)
– Sophomore goalkeeper, Brandi Guertin (Bellingham,
Mass./Bellingham) made five saves in her second shutout of
the season to lead the Ravens past Southern Connecticut State
University 2-0 in Northeast-10 Conference field hockey action at
the Franklin Pierce Field Hockey/Lacrosse Field this afternoon.
With 19:48 remaining in the first half, senior captain Debbie Jones (Escondido,
Calif./Bishops) extended her goal-scoring streak to three
games as she drove home a pass from junior Amanda McIntosh (Madison,
N.J./Madison).
The Ravens added their second of the game with 1:02 remaining in
regulation when sophomore Trisha
Langevin (Bellingham, Mass./Bellingham) scored on a feed
from freshman Nicole McKinnon
(Northfield, N.H./Winnisquam), making the score 2-0.
Senior goalkeeper, Sarah Dube (Northampton, Mass./Northampton),
made five saves for the Owls despite the loss.
Franklin Pierce (4-3, 3-3 NE-10) returns to action on Saturday when
it travels to UMass Lowell for a Conference match at 1 p.m.
Southern Connecticut (5-2, 4-1 NE-10) returns to action on Saturday
when it travels to Saint Michael's for a League contest at 1
p.m.
