FITCHBURG, Mass. (October 11,
2000) -- Emily Howland's (Dartmouth, Mass.) goal
midway through the second half off a feed from Jen Currier (Rowley,
Triton), broke a scoreless tie and helped propel Fitchburg State to
a 1-0 non-conference victory over the visiting Ravens of Franklin
Pierce.
Freshman goalkeeper Angela
Buffington (Carver, Mass.) registered ten saves while earning her
fifth shutout for the Falcons, while Irene Smith (Olivebridge, N.Y.) turned
away eight shots for Franklin Pierce.
Fitchburg State will return to action on Saturday when they travel
to Bridgewater State for a pivitol conference match-up. The Ravens
also return to the field on Saturday when they entertain St.
Michael's at 1:00 p.m.
