MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Franklin Pierce University women's volleyball team dropped a 3–1 decision at Saint Anselm on Tuesday evening, with set scores of 23–25, 25–20, 15–25 and 12–25.
With the result, the Ravens move to 5–9 overall, while the Hawks improve to 10–4.
Brooklin Brown led Franklin Pierce with 10 kills and a .273 hitting percentage. Maddie Swanson contributed nine kills, 13 digs, two service aces and three block assists. Isabella Fetui and Marija Milosevic each added seven kills, with Milosevic also recording three aces and three block assists.
The Ravens battled throughout the opening set, building an early 12–9 lead before Saint Anselm pulled ahead. Trailing 23–20, Franklin Pierce scored three straight points behind two Brown kills and a Milosevic ace to tie the score at 23. The Hawks answered with the final two points to take the set.
Franklin Pierce responded in the second, turning an 8–8 tie into an 18–11 advantage. Consecutive aces from Milosevic helped extend the lead, while Fetui supplied key kills during the run. Saint Anselm closed within 22–20, but the Ravens claimed the final three points, with Swanson delivering the clinching kill to even the match.
The Ravens remained within 11–9 in the third set before Saint Anselm pulled away for a 25–15 win. Franklin Pierce opened the fourth with a 4–1 lead behind three Swanson kills, but the Hawks rallied to take the set, 25–12, and close out the match.
Giuliana Pamatat finished with 29 assists and nine digs, while Brook Barkley led the defense with 18 digs. Grace Miller added five kills without an attack error, hitting .455 and recording three block assists. The Ravens totaled 42 kills, 61 digs, seven service aces and six blocks.
Franklin Pierce returns home to host American International College on Saturday, October 3, at noon.
