Connor Head Coach

Men's Cross Country

Liam Murphy Steps Down; Connor Everidge Named Next Head Coach

RINDGE, N.H. (6/26/26) - Franklin Pierce announced today that Liam Murphy, Head Coach of the Cross Country and Track and Field programs will be stepping down from his role, effective July 14th. Assistant Coach and Assistant Athletic Director of Internal Operations, Connor Everidge, will be named the next head coach.

After one year, Murphy made a strong impact in Rindge, leading the team to NE10 runner-up in Men's Cross Country and Outdoor Track and Field. In cross country, Murphy brought the Ravens back to the NCAA Cross Country Championships as a team, after an individual at-large bid the previous year.

Everidge will be promoted as the next head coach in program history, following a successful 3 seasons as assistant coach of the program. Throughout his time as an assistant, Everidge has helped multiple student-athletes over the years to numerous medals and awards.

"We are very excited to promote Connor Everidge into the role of Head Coach for our cross country and track & field programs." said Athletic Director Matt Johnson. "Connor was an exceptional student-athlete at Franklin Pierce, earning NE10 Man of the Year honors, and he has continued to make a strong impact in his time on our staff. Over the past few years, he has done a tremendous job both as an assistant coach and in his administrative responsibilities. Connor has proven to be smart, reliable, composed, and a strong decision-maker. He treats people the right way and is driven to perform at the highest level. We have no doubt he will do an outstanding job leading our programs forward."

Before joining the coaching staff in 2023, Everidge was quite the standout athlete himself. Being a two-time NE10 Champion in both the weight throw and hammer throw, Everidge served as a four-time team captain, and collected several conference medals and honors throughout his collegiate career.

Everidge was also accomplished off the field, acting as a two-term SAAC male co-chair, peer leader, and president of the Justice in Action Club. In 2023, he was honored with the Franklin Pierce University Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Award for his commitment to social justice.

In 2025, Everidge continued to give back to the Franklin Pierce community, resuming the role of Assistant Athletic Director for Internal Operations, managing operations for all programs across Franklin Pierce Athletics.

"I am honored and excited to step into the role of head coach. I would like to thank Athletic Director, Matt Johnson, for entrusting me with the opportunity to continue the vision of the program. Additionally, I am incredibly grateful for former Director of Cross Country and Track and Field programs, Zach Emerson, for everything he poured into building this program, as well as Liam for continuing that success. I am honored to give back to the place I have called home for many years and look forward to continuing the legacy, culture, and tradition of this program."
