RINDGE, N.H. (4/3/26) - The Franklin Pierce softball team picked up a Northeast 10 doubleheader sweep over Southern Connecticut State on Friday afternoon at Melissa Bisaccia Field. The Ravens took game one by a score of 9-1 and followed with an 8-2 win in game two to remain undefeated in conference play.
Game One – Franklin Pierce 9, SCSU 1 (5 inn.)
Franklin Pierce broke the game open with multi-run innings in the second, third and fourth to secure the game one victory.
The Ravens opened the scoring in the second inning when
Danica Nielsen (Oceanside, Calif.) delivered a two-RBI single to give Franklin Pierce an early 2-0 lead. In the third inning,
Delaney Duford (Concord, N.H.) added an RBI single,
Maisie Lerette (New Gloucester, Maine) brought home a run with a sacrifice fly, and
Andie Anderson (Phoenix, Ariz.) followed with an RBI single to extend the lead to 5-0.
Franklin Pierce added four more runs in the fourth inning, highlighted by an inside-the-park home run from
Camryn Van Valkenburgh (San Dimas, Calif.).
Charlit Hartenstein (Massapequa, N.Y.) added an RBI single and Lerette drove in another run with a sacrifice fly as the Ravens pushed the lead to 9-0.
Southern Connecticut State scored its lone run in the fifth inning, but
Kennedy Morris (Stafford, Conn.) and the Ravens closed out the game to secure the 9-1 win.
Morris earned the win in the circle, allowing just two hits and one run over five innings while striking out six.
At the plate, Hartenstein and Duford each recorded two hits, while Nielsen drove in two runs and Van Valkenburgh added the inside-the-park home run.
Game Two – Franklin Pierce 8, SCSU 2
SCSU took a 2-0 lead into the sixth inning, but the Ravens responded with a huge offensive inning to take control of the game.
Lerette tied the game with a two-run triple before Nielsen followed with an RBI single to give Franklin Pierce the lead. Van Valkenburgh added an RBI single later in the inning,
Bailey Dzivasen (Uxbridge, Mass.) drew a bases-loaded walk, and Duford capped the inning with a three-run triple as Franklin Pierce scored eight runs in the inning to take an 8-2 lead.
Georgia Clough (Barriere, British Columbia) earned the win in the circle, throwing a complete game while allowing just four hits and striking out ten.
Duford led the Ravens with three RBIs, while Lerette drove in two and Van Valkenburgh recorded two hits.
