HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Franklin Pierce opened the game with early composure and even grabbed a brief lead following buckets from Laia Llorente (Madrid, Spain) and Jaylene Pires (Yarmouth Port, Mass.). However, Saint Michael's responded with an 11–0 run late in the quarter and carried a 27–12 advantage into the first break.

Saint Michael's shot 55.6% in the period and went 3-for-4 from three, stretching the lead to 54–24 at halftime
  • Franklin Pierce generated quality looks in the third quarter, including baskets by Emily Mennillo (Orange, Conn.) and Armani Rivera (Pawtucket, R.I.), but Saint Michael's maintained its offensive rhythm with 20 made field goals through three periods and a 60.6% shooting clip overall entering the fourth.
