WINCHENDON, Mass. – Jillian Sano scored with 52 seconds remaining and Rylee Eno made 33 saves as the Franklin Pierce University women's ice hockey team dropped a 2-1 decision to No. 15 Vermont on Friday night.
The Ravens moved to 2-3-0 on the season, while Vermont improved to 2-1-0.
Eno stopped all eight shots she faced in a scoreless opening period. Vermont broke through at 7:59 of the second period and added another goal in the final minute to take a 2-0 lead into the third.
The Ravens kept the deficit at two through the third period, killing off a five minute Vermont power play. Eno made 14 saves over the final 20 minutes.
With an extra attacker on the ice, Sano scored her second goal of the season at 19:08 off assists from Addison Andre and Abigail Broz. Franklin Pierce pushed for the equalizer but could not find another goal before time expired.
The Ravens finished with 19 shots on goal and 24 blocked shots while holding Vermont scoreless on five power play opportunities.
Franklin Pierce will host No. 15 Vermont again on Saturday, Oct. 10, at 4 p.m.
