Last Minute Goal Lifts Women's Soccer Past Saint Anselm

RINDGE, N.H. – McKenna Maguire scored with just over a minute remaining to lift the Franklin Pierce University women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Saint Anselm College on Saturday afternoon at Sodexo Field. The win marked the Ravens' eighth straight victory.

With the win, Franklin Pierce improves to 8-2-0 overall and remains unbeaten in Northeast-10 Conference play at 3-0-0.

After a scoreless opening half, the Ravens controlled much of the attack in the second, outshooting the Hawks 13-8 over the final 45 minutes. Franklin Pierce continued to create chances throughout the half, but Saint Anselm goalkeeper Samantha Swidorski kept the game scoreless deep into the closing minutes.

The breakthrough finally came in the 89th minute. Kaitlyn Bautista put an attempt on goal that was stopped by Swidorski, but Maguire followed up the play and found the back of the net at 88:53 to give Franklin Pierce the late 1-0 advantage.

Maguire finished with a game-high four shots, including three on goal, while recording her game-winning goal. Bautista picked up the assist and added a shot on goal.

The Raven defense did the rest, with Jess LaCroix making four saves to earn the shutout. Franklin Pierce finished with a 16-8 advantage in shots and an 8-4 edge in shots on goal.
