Women's Golf Recap by Athletic Communications Assistant Charlie French

Golf takes fourth at Hartford Hawks Women’s Invitational

WINDSOR, Conn. (9/6/25) - The Franklin Pierce University women's golf team opened their 2025 season at the Hartford Hawks Women's Invitational, placing 4th out of 9 teams. The event, originally scheduled as a two-round competition, was shortened to one round due to the weather. Freshman Téa Waleebavorndach (Pathum-Thani, Thailand) put up a strong rookie performance by tying for fifth place on the leaderboard.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Despite the cancellation of the second round, the Ravens made the most of their single day of play, placing two golfers in the top 10.

Waleebavorndach impressed in her collegiate debut, finishing tied for 5th on the leaderboard. She carded a 79 (+9), highlighted by eight pars and a birdie on the back nine.

Yiyou Chen (Shanghai, China), stand out rookie from last season, picked up where she left off, tying for 8th place. Her final score on the day was 81 (+11). Her round started strong, with two pars and a birdie on the first three holes. She was able to score par 3 more times over the remainder of the round.

Not far behind Chen is Senior Lorelai Flanagan (Arlington, Mass.) who also turned in a solid performance, earning herself 11th in the standings. She scored an 82 (+12) on the day where she recorded 9 pars and added a birdie on the 13th hole.

Finishing out the leaderboard for Pierce was Freshman Nicole Sierakowski (Coventry, Conn.) who was able to pick up 43rd place on the course after a score of 108 (+38).

After losing a lot of talent from last season, the Ravens showed that they remain competitive on the course.

NEXT UP FOR THE RAVENS: The Ravens will hold their very own Franklin Pierce Invitational in Keene, New Hampshire on Thursday, September 18th.
