RINDGE, N.H. (9/27/25) – In a back-and-forth NE10 battle, the Franklin Pierce University football team came up just short in a 28-26 heartbreaker against Assumption University on Saturday afternoon at Sodexo Field. The Ravens put up over 450 yards of total offense and took a late fourth-quarter lead before a last-minute field goal lifted the Greyhounds to victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Assumption struck first on its opening drive, marching 67 yards in nine plays, capped by a 4-yard touchdown pass from Jay Kastantin to Will McNamara. The Greyhounds doubled their lead late in the first quarter with a 13-yard score from Kastantin to AJ Robinson to go up 14-0.
  • Franklin Pierce responded in the second quarter as Adrian Parker (Manchester, Conn.) engineered a 10-play, 75-yard drive and found Kameron Massey (East Hartford, Conn.) for a 25-yard touchdown strike. After an Assumption field goal, Parker connected with Austyn Howe (Newington, Conn.) from 15 yards out to trim the deficit to 17-13 heading into halftime.
  • The Ravens took their first lead of the day midway through the third quarter when Reimello Hyde (Nashua, N.H.) powered in a 4-yard rushing score to make it 19-17. However, the Greyhounds answered on the very next play from scrimmage with an 80-yard touchdown strike to reclaim a 25-19 advantage heading into the fourth.
  • Parker and the Ravens weren't done, putting together another long march in the final quarter. The senior quarterback found Howe again, this time from five yards out, to put Franklin Pierce ahead 26-25 with 7:18 to play. But Assumption mounted a final drive, setting up Massimo Sgambati's 49-yard field goal with 30 seconds left to secure the 28-26 win.
