Waterbury, Conn. --- The Franklin Pierce volleyball team was defeated by the Post Eagles 3-0 (17-25, 16-25, 13-25) on Friday. The loss is their fourth consecutive, and they now drop to 0-4 on the season.Â
The Ravens started the game with a small lead, but the momentum shifted towards the Eagles' favor throughout the first set. Post ended the set with a 9-3 run to capture a 1-0 lead. Â
The Eagles then continued to dominate as they took a 10-4 lead in the second set and built a 20-8 third set lead before capturing the sweep. Â
The Ravens managed just 18 kills across the whole match. Even with Post's 21 total errors (11 attacking and 10 serving), the Ravens struggled to capitalize. Senior middle blocker Martina Spackova (Bratislava, Slovakia) led the team in kills with four, also contributing good defense with two digs, one solo block, and three block assists. Â
Another Raven who contributed defensively was sophomore libero Payton Stupavsky (Quincy, IL), who had 10 digs in the match. Stupavsky, the transfer from Emmanuel College, gives the Ravens defensive depth at the libero position behind Senior Julia Felgenhauer (Bolivar, OH).Â
On the other side of the court, Kristina Peric led the Eagles with 13 kills in the match. Defensively, Alyssa Groves recorded 15 digs, which led Post to the match. Â
Now the Ravens sit at a 0-4 record and face another tournament before their home opener on September 23. The Ravens will look to rebound at the Wildcat Regional against host Wilmington, Delaware, on September 19 at 11:00 a.m.Â
