Ravens Take a Bounce-back Win Against the Purple Knights

COLCHESTER, Vt. (4/15/25) – The Franklin Pierce Ravens men's tennis team gets back on track in Tuesday afternoons match against the Saint Michaels Purple Knights, winning 5-2 in Northeast-10 conference action.

HOW IT HAPPENED:  

  • In the #1 singles match, graduate Joe Herin (Tias, Spain) defeated Tristian Du Plessis in two sets 6-0, 6-1.   

  • In #2 singles, graduate Noe Martin (Sainte-Agnès, France) won his match in two sets, 6-3 and 6-4.   

  • The momentum from the wins carried over into the #3 singles match for the Ravens. Graduate Ralph Hiebel (Paris, France) impressed with a win in two sets, 7-6 and 7-5 as well.   

  • To close out in #4 singles, graduate Alejandro Ortiz (Madrid, Spain) dropped his match in three sets 7-5, 6-7, 5-10.   

  • In #5 singles, junior Orlando Guerrero (Pachuco, Mexico) won his match in two sets, 7-5, 6-3.   

  • To close out in #6 singles, sophomore Hugo Diaz Avila (Barcelona, Spain) fell short in one set, 3-5.   

  • Although the Ravens solidified the win by earning doing well in the singles matches, the Ravens finished it off well in the doubles matches as they won 2 out of 3. In #1 doubles, Joe Herin and Noe Martin won a tight match 6-4. In #2 doubles, Ralph Hiebel and Alejandro Ortiz lost a tough one 6-0. To close out in #3 doubles, Hugo Diaz Avila and Orlando Guerrero also won their match 6-4.   

NEXT UP FOR THE RAVENS: The Ravens host a match tomorrow (4/16) against another Knights of Queens (N.Y.). The match starts at 11 a.m.
