GAME 2 vs. Pittsburgh Johnstown

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Georgia Clough (Barriere, British Columbia) got the start for the Ravens in a five-inning affair. She started off strong stringing out 2 batters in the opening frame. The Ravens started the scoring right away as Charlit Hartenstein (Massapequa, N.Y.) doubles scoring Andie Anderson (Phoenix, Ariz.) after the leadoff walk and steal.
  • Clough ran into some trouble in the second inning after giving up a leadoff base hit to Audrey Patterson, then walked Mia Smith. Though, after securing her first out from a pop out, she settled in and struck the final two batters out to to get out of the jam. In the bottom half, Anna Erickson (Temecula, Calif.) leads off with a single. Danielle Belliveau (Baldwinville, Mass.) follows with a single of her own. Erickson and Belliveau go on and steal second and third, still with nobody out. In the same at bat, the ball gets by the catcher and Erickson sneaks home. Two batters later, Lita Vorseth (Mesa, Ariz.) delivers an RBI single to make it 3-0. Following two RBI groundouts, Hartenstein continues her roll with another RBI single to score Bella Williams (Phoenix, Ariz.) as the Ravens got out to an early 6-0 lead.
  • Clough rode the momentum into the third inning, having a 1, 2, 3 inning to get the Ravens back to bat. Though, Mia Smith was not letting the Ravens get to her this time as she sits down the 3 Ravens she saw.
  • After another shut down inning in the fourth from Clough, the Ravens threatened late once again with runners at second and third. Williams hits a sacrifice fly to score Anderson.
  • In her final inning of work, Clough followed a walk with a strikeout, eventually ending the inning in her lights out performance. Haley Bigwood (Athol, Mass.) leads off with a pinch-hit single in the 5th, then goes on to steal second. Taylor Ellis (Crandall, Texas) would end the game with a single, scoring Bigwood as the Ravens win the game 8-0.

BREAKING DOWN THE NUMBERS

  • Clough only allowed 1 hit and struck out 7 batters in 5 innings of work, securing the win.
  • The Ravens had eight hits to the Mountain Cats one
  • There were no errors in the field for either team.
