DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Franklin Pierce University men's tennis team continues its Florida road trip with a tough 7-0 loss to No. 15 Embry-Riddle on Sunday. The match marked the first-ever meeting between the two programs, with the Eagles (12-3) showcasing their depth against the Ravens (4-5).
Embry-Riddle claimed the doubles point with a clean sweep. Enrico Rosellini and Mason Cisco dominated at No. 2 doubles, dropping just one game in a 6-1 victory over Ralph Hiebel and Alejandro Ortiz. The No. 1 doubles match was a tight battle, but the Eagles' duo of Wilson Igbinovia and Joshua Nuyts secured a late break to edge out Joe Herin and Noe Martin, 7-5. At No. 3 doubles, Alvaro Diaz Rodrigo and Pol Fontdegloria held strong to take a 7-5 win over Orlando Guerrero and Hugo Diaz Avila.
In singles, Embry-Riddle continued its dominance, winning all six matches. No. 32-ranked Igbinovia wasted no time at No. 1, shutting out Herin 6-0, 6-0. Diaz Rodrigo followed up his strong doubles performance with a commanding 6-0, 6-2 win over Ortiz at No. 4. Nuyts faced some resistance in the second set but closed out a 6-0, 6-3 victory against Martin at No. 2. At No. 3, Rosellini secured a 6-2, 6-3 win over Hiebel. Cisco extended his winning streak to five matches, defeating Guerrero 6-3, 6-2 at No. 5. At No. 6, Enrique Amaya led Diaz Avila 6-4, 4-2 before securing the win by retirement.
