HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The first quarter saw rapid offense with eight total goals in the period. The Saints then answered a minute later with Madison Handley equalizing at 1-1. The Ravens and Saints would go goal for goal until the three minute-mark with seniors Riley Beem (Windham, Maine) and Emily Ulmer (Bedford, N.H.) scoring, and for the Saints Sydney Gordon, and Jillian Bernas. At the three minute-mark, McIlroy scored her second goal of the game giving the Ravens the lead back and with the final seconds, junior Maura Cogavin (Franklin, Mass.) scored extended the Raven lead, 5-3.
  • The Ravens continued the offense in the start of the second quarter with Courtney Hannes (Tyngsborough, Mass.) joining in on the scoring as well as Hayley Hermsdorf (Center Moriches, N.Y.) and Ulmer's second goal of the game to give the Ravens a five-goal cushion. However, the Saints caught some momentum and within a minute and a half, Gordon, Handley, and Bernas scored their second goals of the game and brought the lead down to two, 8-6. Beem then gave the Ravens an insurance goal in the final 30 seconds of the first half, making it 9-6.
  • The third quarter was a stalemate with Hannes collecting her second goal of the game on the free position shot, making it 10-6 at the six-minute mark. Emily Fisher for the Saints then scored to pull her team within three, 10-7 entering the fourth period.
