HOW IT HAPPENED

  • A scoreless first period of play saw the Ravens fight back-and-forth with the Rams. The defensive battle saw lots of offensive opportunities from each team. Goaltender Theo Jacobs faced 20 shots in his first outing of the season, while Franklin Pierce had 15 shots.
  • Each goalie continued to be faced with shots, the first falling in the 7th minute of the second period. Douglas McGuire found a shot from the top of the Ravens attacking zone, which John Sterling redirected into the back of the net, putting the Ravens up 1-0. The second period of play became intense, with a total of 7 penalties across the two teams. In an effort to tie the game going into the third, the Rams went empty-net with under a minute on the clock. With a Ravens penalty, the Rams found themselves  with a two-man up opportunity, but weren't able to capitalize.
  • The Ravens began the third period man-down, and just as the Rams' power play ended, they were able to equalize the score. Less than two minutes in, Framingham State was able to find their way through traffic in front of the net to make the score 1-1.
  • Two minutes later, the Ravens found themselves on the power play. After working the puck around their attacking zone, Austin Pick found the opportunity they were looking for. Pick sent the puck across the net to be tipped in by Mario Paganini, returning the Ravens lead, 2-1.
  • The two teams continued to go back and forth, penalty after penalty. With just under 7 minutes to play, a Ram found himself wide open to shoot, and found the back of the net, past Jeffrey Reda, evening the score at 2. Neither team would score again in regulation, sending the game into sudden victory overtime.
  • In 3v3 play, the Rams took the first possession. Finding composure behind their own net, Scott Bugarin took the puck himself, through all three Raven defenders, and netting the game winner 17 seconds into overtime.

UP NEXT FOR THE RAVENS: The Ravens have a week off before their next game at Post University. The puck will drop in Waterbury, Conn. on Tuesday, December 2 at 7:00PM.
