HOW IT HAPPENED
- Staten Island struck first and jumped out to a 9-0 lead before a three from Janaya Prince-Baquero got the Ravens on the board at the 6:33 mark. Franklin Pierce settled in defensively and twice cut the deficit to four, including a late jumper from Prince-Baquero to make it 14-10 after one.
- The second quarter proved to be the separation point. The Dolphins opened the frame on an 11-0 run, capitalizing on turnovers and second-chance opportunities while holding the Ravens without a field goal for nearly seven minutes. Franklin Pierce scored just five points in the quarter—all from the bench—and trailed 28-15 at halftime.
- The offense found rhythm in the third as the Ravens posted an 18-point period. Emily Mennillo sparked the push with five quick points, and Natalie Beaudoin and Liv Murray each knocked down threes to keep Franklin Pierce within reach. However, Staten Island continued to answer inside, outscoring the Ravens 14-4 in the paint during the quarter to expand its lead to 51-33.
- Franklin Pierce continued to battle in the fourth, getting to the line and converting on second-chance baskets, but Staten Island's lead never dipped below 18. The Dolphins controlled possession late and closed out the game to secure the opening-night win.
