HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Ravens came out flying from the first whistle. Applied pressure and great offensive movement proved to be too much for the Hawks in the opening minutes as 4 minutes into the half, a low cross from Mackenzie Shean (Agawam, MA) found a wide-open Claudia Peirce who slotted the ball past goalkeeper, Samantha Swidorski, giving the Ravens an early lead and the only goal of the half.
- The Hawks caused trouble for the Ravens throughout the second half and forced the Ravens to foul just outside the box. Meghan Deneen stepped up and delivered from the set piece equalizing for Saint Anselm in the 53rd minute.
- However, the joy for the Hawks was short lived as 4 minutes later a foul in the box on Claudia Peirce caused the referee to blow her whistle for a penalty in favor of the Ravens. Jenni Huttunen sent the keeper the wrong way as she calmly placed the ball into the bottom right corner, regaining the lead for the Ravens from the spot kick in the 57th minute.
- The Hawks continued to be relentless throughout the closing stages and saw the fruits of their labor in the 75th minute when a pass from Connie Patturelli found the feet of Deneen who fired a shot past Ravens keeper Jess Lacroix (Nashua, N.H.) and once again drew the score level as she registered a brace.
- Incredible defensive performances from both teams in the final 15 minutes caused the score to settle at 2-2, gifting both teams a point in NE10 play.
