HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The scoring began early when a misplayed header by a Pace defender landed perfectly for Guillermo Avendaño (Luanco, Spain), who calmly slotted the ball into the net to give the Ravens an early advantage.
  • As the first half wound down, Franklin Pierce added two more goals. Dani Almeida (Lisboa, Portugal) tallied his first goal as a Raven off a well-placed assist from Avendaño. Just moments before the halftime whistle, Stepan Fiker (Prague, Czech Republic) also netted his first goal in a Franklin Pierce uniform.
  • Franklin Pierce wasted no time continuing their offensive onslaught in the second half. Freshman Guillermo Rios (Asunción, Paraguay) extended the lead to 4-0 after receiving a well-timed pass from Borja Blazquez (Toledo, Spain).
  • Pace managed to get on the scoreboard after a miscue in the Ravens' back line. Daniel Santos capitalized on a deflection and beat goalkeeper David Skorodumov (Ashland, Mass.) to make it 4-1.
  • However, the Ravens quickly responded. A Pace own goal pushed the lead to 5-1 before JJ Forskin (South Yarmouth, Mass.) closed out the scoring with the first goal of his collegiate career. Forskin's goal came off an assist from Erik Valdovinos (Canton, Mass.), who also recorded his first collegiate assist.
  • With the victory, Franklin Pierce improves to 2-0 in NE10 play and remains undefeated in conference action.
