North Andover, Mass. (10/1/2024) - Franklin Pierce women's tennis put up a fight against Merrimack College, ultimately dropping the match 3-4. Despite getting swept in doubles, the team was able to win three of the six singles matches, proving some potential for the team going forward.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Ravens competed in three doubles spots, with Ines Gabarro and Candeal Tortosa putting up the longest battle, ultimately falling 7-5. Gabriela Yamate and Ainhoa Ordonez, and Ana Munoz and Sara Gonzalez dropped their matches as well, 6-3 and 6-2, respectively.
- In singles play, the Ravens earned their first point through Ines Gabarro in the first spot. Gabarro took the match in two sets, winning 6-4 and 6-1.
- Sara Gonzalez won her singles match as well, in three sets. After winning the first set 6-2 and dropping the second 4-6, Gonzalez pulled away from Pia Vargas-Lopez in the third set, taking it 6-1.
- Ainhoa Ordonez picked up the final point for the Ravens, also in three sets of singles play. Ordonez fell in set 1, but gained her rhythm for the second two, winnings 6-2 and 6-1.
UP NEXT FOR THE RAVENS: The Ravens look to come back this Saturday, when they compete at home against Bentley University. The match is set to begin at 10:00 a.m on October 4th.
