HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Colette Mulderig (Scranton, Pa.) gets the scoring started as she hits a layup in the first 30 seconds of the game. Early turnovers from the Hawks and ill-advised passes from the Ravens kept it low scoring the first quarter. The Ravens held a lead for most of the opening quarter until Avery Romps hits a Layup to put the Hawks on top 10-9. With just seconds remaining in the first quarter, Tatum Forbes gets sent to the free throw line and hits both shots to extend the Hawks lead to 12-9. Forbes pulls up a shot with just over 10 seconds into the second quarter to keep the momentum going for the Hawks.
  • Elise MacNair comes off the bench firing and hits a layup and a jumper and double their score against the Ravens 18-9, until she hits a three-pointer to make it 21-9.
  • After going on a 16-0 run, the Hawks foul the Ravens as both Geanna Bryant (Boston, Mass.) and Mulderig get sent to the line and hit both of their free throws to make it 21-13.
  • Marta Pond Gomez sinks a three to spark another incredible 11-0 run. While the Ravens continue to get swarmed by the Hawks defense, Mulderig is sent to the line again after getting fouled, hitting one of her shots. Anna Nelson hits a buzzer beater to extend the Hawks lead to 20 points going into halftime.
  • The Ravens come out swinging in the second half, quickly hitting a three-pointer from Bryant, and Janessa Gonzalez (Meridan, Conn.) adds two more with a layup on the following possession. Though, the Hawks defense continued to hold the Ravens at bay, keeping their 20-point lead at the end of the third quarter, 48-28.
  • Adriana DeBernardo (Stratford, Conn.) drives a layup in the opening seconds of the fourth. A late steal by Gonzalez sets up a jump shot by Sara Macary (Naugatuck, Conn.) in the final minutes. The Hawks offense continued to apply pressure with Bella Vaz capping off the win with a layup with time winding down.

BREAKING DOWN THE NUMBERS:

  • Geanna Bryant led the team with 11 points.
  • The Ravens shot 31.3% from the field. The Hawks shot 40.9%.
  • The Ravens had 20 turnovers, and the Hawks had 10.
