MANCHESTER, N.H. (9/6/2024) – Franklin Pierce University Volleyball earned one win and one loss in their first day at the SNHU/Saint Anslem Volleyball Opener, Friday night. The first match saw FPU winning the last three sets to win the match, 3-1. Second match went 3-0 in favor of the Fighting Knights of Lynn University.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
GAME ONE: FPU 3 – SNHU 1
21-25, 25-21, 26-24, 25-21
- SNHU came out hot in the first set hitting .409 in the first set. They took the first set 25-21.
- The Ravens would take set two, 25-21, hitting .259. Katholiki Koukia (Dodecanese, Greece) and Annaka Lindstrom (Dudley, Mass.) led the team with three kills each in the second set.
- FPU took the third set, 26-24. Hitting 0.31 as a team. Lindstrom had six assists.
- The Ravens take the fourth set, 25-21 on a kill by Koukia, assisted by Lindstrom.
GAME TWO: FPU 0 – LYNN 3
(21-25, 14-25, 10-25)
- The Ravens tied the Fighting Knights on a service ace from Kori Garnhart (Colorado Springs, Colo.) to keep even at 3-3. They maintained the lead for three points on kills from Adrianna Reay (Bristol, Conn.) and Martina Spackova (Bratislava, Slovakia).
- The Fighting Knights cruised to a 6-0 lead early in the second set, hitting .148.
- Lynn opened a 5-2 edge in the third and slowly pulled away. Aline Olegario added four kills inside the final seven point for Lynn in set three.
INSIDE THE TOURNAMENT:
- FPU would see Avery Leblanc (Exeter, R.I) lead the team with 14 kills in two matches.
- Lindstrom had 34 assists.
- The Ravens combined for nine service aces across two matches.
- Julia Felgenhauer (Bolivar, Ohio) led the way with 19 digs.
