HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The Ravens struck first early, just 8:52 into the contest. Freshman defender Miguel D'Amico (São Paulo, Brazil) sent a cross into the box and it went off an Eagle defender, causing an own goal and giving the Ravens the 1-0 lead. The Ravens held on to that lead for the remainder of the first half, but the Eagles made it a hard-fought battle for the first 45 minutes, producing 7 shots compared to the Ravens 8.

  • The second half got out of control early for the Eagles, once again shooting themselves in the foot. The Ravens made it 2-0 in the 58th minute when graduate forward Andrin Zumbuhl (Beckenried, Switzerland) took advantage of a miscue from the Eagles keeper and flicked it in the open cage for the goal.

  • Antonio Lima (Lisbon, Portugal) kept the party going with a pair of goals for the Ravens. His first came in the 70th minute on a screamer from outside the box, burying a shot in the bottom left corner, giving the Ravens a 3-0 lead. He added another tally in the 87th minute when he evaded 3 Eagle defenders and fired a missile into the top right corner off a beautiful feed from Andy Chisholm (Little Compton, R.I.).

  • The Ravens capped off a dominant 2nd half performance with a 5th goal in the 88th minute. Antonio Lima showed off his playmaking ability by dishing a pass to Guillermo Avendaño (Luanco, Spain), who then burned the Eagles defense and slotted it home.

BREAKING DOWN THE NUMBERS:
  • The Ravens outshot the Eagles 16-10.

  • Karl Vernet (Miami, Fl.) picked up the win in net (3-0-1), recording 6 saves.

  • The Ravens took 9 corner kicks, the Eagles took none.

  • The game was very physical, the Eagles picked up 19 fouls and the Ravens picked up 16. Both teams received 4 yellow cards.
