BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (11/10/24) - Franklin Pierce faced off against Bridgeport University in a back-and-forth battle. In a closely contested game, the Ravens gained a slight edge early but could not hold off a late push by the Purple Knights, resulting in a 96-92 loss.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The game began with both teams trading baskets, but Franklin Pierce took an early lead, led by Demariontay Hall (Atlanta, Ga.), who had several key dunks in the first half. His explosive plays helped spark the offense, and the Ravens managed to maintain a slim lead for much of the first period.

  • Bridgeport, however, found their rhythm in the second half, with Caleb Jacobs and Aliou Cisse making key plays to close the gap. As the game wore on, Bridgeport's offense picked up momentum, and the Ravens struggled to match the intensity. Despite strong performances from Hall and Pierce Prendergast (Bayport, N.Y.), who provided both scoring and key assists, the Ravens couldn't build a consistent enough offensive flow to hold onto the lead.

  • With just over a minute remaining, Franklin Pierce found themselves down 87-88 and although they had several opportunities to close the gap, they were unable to capitalize. Despite late efforts by Ja'Keese Kemp (Lakeland, Fla.) and Michael Myrie (Baltimore, Md.), who both made several crucial plays down the stretch, Bridgeport's defense proved too much, and the Ravens fell short 79-73.

BREAKING DOWN THE NUMBERS:

  • Donte Pope (Middletown, Conn.) led the Ravens with 27 points.

  • The Ravens had 33 rebounds to the Purple Knights' 45.

  • The Ravens turned the ball over 26 times while the Purple Knights turned it over 22 times.

  • The game was tied 3 times and there were 9 lead changes.
