NEW HAVEN, Conn. (10/29/24) - The Franklin Pierce volleyball team hit the road for a Northeast-10 conference matchup with the Owls of Southern Connecticut State University. Despite a strong first set from the Ravens, SCSU was able to capitalize and win 3-1.

Franklin Pierce claimed the opening set with a score of 25-17, bolstered by kills from Katholiki Koukia (Rhodes, Greece) and Avery Theriault (Exeter, R.I.). The Ravens' aggressive offense helped them pull away early, setting a strong tone for the match.

Southern Connecticut responded, evening the match with a 25-17 win in the second set. The Ravens' attack errors and service miscues gave the Owls the advantage, as Emma Dedushaj and Madi Roar led the Owls with timely plays and service aces that kept the Ravens from closing the gap.

A back-and-forth battle ensued in the third set, but the Owls ultimately emerged victorious, 25-19. Franklin Pierce's Martina Spackova (Bratislava, Slovakia) and Koukia led efforts at the net, but critical blocks and kills from SCSU's Julia Jaworowski secured the set.

The Ravens fought hard to extend the match, but SCSU held firm, claiming the final set 25-19. Southern Connecticut's strong net defense, led by Raegen Emery and Jaworowski, proved too much for FPU, ultimately closing out the game.
The Franklin Pierce Volleyball team returns to the fieldhouse here in Rindge for a matchup featuring the Greyhounds of Assumption. The match is set for 7 PM.
