HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Despite dominating possession in the first half and outshooting the Purple Knights 12-0, the Ravens couldn't break through, and the game remained scoreless heading into the second half of action.
  • The Ravens broke the scoreless tie in the 55th minute. Sophomore midfielder Tiago Barriguinha (Alverca, Portugal) dished a pass to sophomore forward Andy Chisholm (Little Compton, R.I.) who took his first touch around the defender and fired it into the left corner to give the Ravens the 1-0 lead.
  • The Ravens wouldn't stop there. Graduate defender Julen Martin (Bilbao, Spain) lofted a beautiful pass to graduate midfielder Joao Araujo (Madeira, Portugal) who took an incredible first touch and tucked it nicely in the left corner to put the Ravens up 2-0.
  • The bleeding continued for the Purple Knights. Graduate goalkeeper Karl Vernet (Miami, Fla.) booted a ball down the field and connected with graduate midfielder Borja Blazquez (Toledo, Spain) who fed streaking junior forward Guillermo Avendano (Luanco, Spain) who danced past two defenders, faked a shot, and buried it into the left corner, sealing the 3-0 win for the Ravens.
