Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Women's Volleyball Taken Down at Home to UNH, 3-0

RINDGE, N.H. (10/18/24) - The Franklin Pierce women's volleyball team competed with the Chargers of University of Haven, Friday night. The Ravens fell 3-0 to the Chargers in a closely contested volleyball match.

RECORDS:

  • FPU: 2-12 (0-4 NE10)
  • UNH: 12-7 (4-0 NE10)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The Ravens held their own in every set, keeping the score within a few points at the end of each set. However, it was not enough for the Ravens in the end.
  • The match began with back-and-forth play, but the Chargers quickly gained momentum. The ravens stayed competitive, with notable contributions from Avery LeBlanc (Exeter, R.I.) and Katholiki Koukia (Rhodes, Greece), both delivering critical kills to keep the Ravens within striking distance. Despite their efforts, UNH capitalized on several errors by Franklin Pierce and strong offensive play from Sofia Kamke and Katherine Rank, ultimately taking the first set 25-18.
  • The second set saw New Haven taking an early lead, thanks to kills from Kame and Amber Williams, as well as consistent assists from Tori Borton. FPU rallied with key points from LeBlanc and Martina Spakova (Bratislava, Slovakia), but the Charger's relentless offense, led by Kamke and Grace Juergens, proved too much. After a timeout, Franklin Pierce attempted a comeback, but New Haven finished the set strong, winning 25-22.
  • In the final set, UNH established dominance early, going up 8-1. FPU showed resilience, with standout plays from Annaka Lindstrom (Dudley, Mass.), closing the gap to 21-16. However, the Chargers' steady offensive pressure, combined with Franklin Pierce's service and attack errors, secured a 25-19 win for New Haven, completing the sweep.

IN BETWEEN THE LINES:

  • Lindstrom led the team with 21 assists.
  • Leblanc had a team-high of 10 kills.
  • The Ravens had four service aces.

UP NEXT FOR THE RAVENS: The Ravens continue their stop at home when they return to the Fieldhouse Tuesday night. The Ravens will host the Penmen of Southern New Hampshire for the 2024 Lindstrom Strong Match. The match is set for 7 PM.
