Raven's Strong Defense Shines in Narrow 1-0 Loss to No. 7 Assumption

RINDGE, N.H. (10/15/24) - The Franklin Pierce field hockey team hosted the Greyhounds of Assumption for their Kidney Awareness game in honor of teammate Jennifer Frost, who has been courageously battling kidney disease. In what became a hard-fought, emotional contest, the Ravens displayed tremendous grit and heart, pushing the nationally ranked Greyhounds to the limit before falling 1-0.

  • FPU: 1-12 (1-5 NE10)  
  • ASSUMPTION: 10-3 (5-1 NE10)  

HOW IT HAPPENED:  

  • The only goal of the game came at 19:44 of the second quarter, as Mia Salah found Daisy Stone after the start of a penalty corner to give the Greyhounds the lead.  
  • Though the Ravens were unable to generate any shots on goal, their defense, anchored by goaltender Zoe Noorlag (Amersfoort, Netherlands), held firm against Assumption's relentless attack.  

IN BETWEEN THE LINES:  

  • Noorlag made 16 saves on 17 shots on goal.  
  • The Greyhounds outshot the Ravens 24-0, with 18 on target.  

UP NEXT FOR THE RAVENS: The Ravens hit the road as they travel to Pace University for a 2 PM start, Saturday.
